Hello everybody!
This post will be about my highlight/s of the year and what we think the big day out will be held.
One of my main highlights of the year was probably have to be dodgeball. At the start of the year I wouldn't say I was "o.k" at dodgeball at all. I was one of those people who stood at the back or got out several times in a game. But now I am fairly decent at it. I've even managed to pull out my inner "skill" and somehow manage to win the game for the class. I personaly think dodgeball is great activity.
Another favourite of mine is tech, especially cooking. In cooking we made a bunch of delicious food and got to eat it too. The whole intermediate level do thks every monday.
Now it's predicting time!?
Since I can't remember any of our past big day outs, I will make a guess with the information of what they have been like in the past few years. So I think it will be at.................................................................................... I don't know.......................................Aha! I think it will be at Wellington Zoo!
Well that's all I have for this week folks!
See you again at my blog!

Next year
Hi everybody!
This week we were told to write about what we felt about next year as a year 8 or in college.
As a year 7, next year I will be a year 8. There are many things that I am looking forward to next year like playing against the future year 7's and sitting on the chairs during assembly. I think being a year 8 nextyear will be a fun experience because we will be the oldest in the school.
There are also some challenges when I become a year 8. For me, I think camp would be a challenge, as some of the activities sound like they're going to push me out of my comfort zone. It is also my last year at school which I'm not sure if I'll be happy or sad about.
Since it will be my last year at school, I will probably try to do my best in everything. I'll try to get in to the finals for speeches, science fair, athletics etc.
That's all for now people of the word!
See you next time on my blog!

Book week
Hello and welcome back to my blog!
That's all for now folks!
See you next time on my blog!
Here is a little bit out my 3 favourite things I enjoyed about the week.
The book character parade:
It was fun watching everyone in their costumes walking around. Everyone was very creative. My costume was one of the army figurines from toy story. Mahon was a gladiator from the book: horrible histories.
The Kate De Goldi visit:
On one of the days Kate De Goldi visited our school to talk to us about her books and about her childhood when she wrote a lot. Kate De Goldi has made lots of books. My favourite is probably the ACB.
The book character quiz:
The book character quiz was held on the last day. The groups were set in year groups with different difficulties for the questions. In the end the Brigidine groups won. That's all for now folks!

Flick the Fire Engine

Hi guys!
This week were told to write about a book we liked as a kid. I liked......
Flick the Little Fire Engine is a book about a little red fire engine who wants to fight fires more than anything in the world but can't because the other fire engines say that he is too small. One day the other fire engines are having trouble with a big fire. Flick rushes to help and saves the day! I think I liked this book because of its story line and the song.
That's all for today folks!

AFL
This term so far we have been taught some skills to do with AFL.
Some tips I leant were:
Some tips I leant were:
Arrow arms-keep your arms straight when dropping the ball
X's up and down-make sure the "X's" at the top and bottom of the ball face up and down
laces away from faces-make sure laces are away from faces
All of these things help you with doing good kicks.
In AFL kicking is used for scoring and passing.

Dungeon boss!

My latest favorite game I have so far is Dungeon Boss. Dungeon boss is a roll playing game (RPG) where you upgrade your heroes as much as possible to defeat the increasingly difficult dungeons. This game is my favorite because I really like the characters you can get from the summons or tokens and the game play. There is also a mode where you can try to raid other peoples dungeon. This can earn you honor scrolls that you can buy summons and specials with. You can also get friends on the game and you can use their profile character once a day!
Those are the reasons why this is my favorite game from the app store.
Bye, and see you next week!

Jobs
This week we were told to write about our ideal job. Since I can't really think of one now I'll just write about a job I wanted as a little boy.
When I was a little boy I wanted to be a paleontologist because I was very enthusiastic about dinosaurs.
I don't actually know much about paleontology except you dig up fissilised bones but I think you'll have to study geology in highschool to learn more about it.
I think if you are really keen on being a paleontologist but are to young you should just try your luck and go digging in the beach or while going on a tramp.
That's it for this week folks!
See you next time on 'Joshua's Blog'!
What job would you like?

Wet n' wild, Gold Coast
Hi guys!
I'm back again to write about an event that happened to me in the school holidays.
In the holidays my family and I flew over to the Gold Coast in Australia. We went to a bunch of attractions including Australia Zoo, Dream World and Movie World but today I'm going to talk about Wet n' Wild.
Wet n' Wild is a water park in Australia which has some really cool rides and even has it's own wave pool! some of the rides I enjoyed most was the Black Hole, the Tornado, Constrictor and Mammoth Falls!
Here are some descriptions of the rides listed above.
Black Hole
The Black Hole is a water slide that has a series of twists and turns on it's way down. To top it off it's also almost pitch black.
The Tornado
The Tornado is probably one of the more intense-starting rides in the theme park. It starts off with a slow u-turn followed by a steep slope into a large diagonal funnel which your floating ring along with you toss and turn to the end.
The Constrictor
The Constrictor is basically a large water slide with 3 around 360 degree turns in a floating ring.
Mammoth Falls
Mammoth Falls is the fourth and final ride I'm going to talk about. This is probably also going to be my most simple ride to explain. You're in a floating ring going down a very twisty water slide.
Well, that's it for today folks! See you next time on Joshua's blog!
P.S If your wondering why there are no pictures in this post it's because I couldn't find any good ones.

Artist
Hello!
This week we have been told to blog about an artist. I chose Vincent Van Gogh.
The artworks I have chose to blog about are:
Starry Night
I chose this artwork because I liked it. It looked pretty cool and I remember doing a collage of this artwork some time ago. I find that it looks peaceful and must have taken a lot of time.
The next artwork I chose was his self portrait without an ear. I don't know why he did this but I know this is the only self portrait I know of with only one ear.
Well, that's all I can think of to say.
Until next time!

Sports Fest is over :(
So now that the Sports Fest is over I can tell you a little bit about .
As you might have read my second to latest post you would have known that I was in the Basketball team. The thing is we ended up getting seriously thrashed by the 3 other teams we faced.
The first team we faced we lost around 11-48 but I got I hoop. They were the easiest.
The next team we faced was a bit harder.
The last team we faced were sort of bad sportsmen. (I'm not going to say what they did).I still got 1 hoop.
Overall it was a fun day and I got an ASB drink bottle!

Poems
There once was a snail called dale
Who liked to deliver mail
He made a mistake
Then got hit by a rake
And now he's turning all pale
There once was a pug called Doug
Who had an over-sized mug
He pooed in a shoe
Then did a big spew
And now he needs a new rug
There once was a locked up door
That was next to the slightly burnt floor
Dan unlocked the latches
Just to find burning matches
Now he knew what the door was for
There once was a pig called pork
Who traveled all the way to New York
He saw Liberty
And then laughed he he
Shouldn't she be holding a spork
There once was a man called Bot
Whose nose was running with snot
He wiped some snot off
Then checked in a trough
And said, hey I missed a spot
There once was a boy called Lockie
Who was a bit of a moxie
At 12 o'clock flat
He put on his hat
And said Mum, we need to go for a walkie
My favorite poems I have posted up there are numbers 2 and 4.
I like these poems because I like the style of limericks and the way that the last line is meant to be humorous. Numbers 1 and 2 were the ones I started off with, then I just thought of the other ones randomly when I was doing a blog post. I also like them because they are simple and easy to make up. What's more is that they're short and sharp. I find them very fun and enjoyable!
If you have some limericks you'd like to share, you can comment below!
See you next time! (Not really 'cause I can't really see you through the screen) :p

Waiting for the anual Sportsfest!
The thing that I waiting for is coming soon! It's the annual Sportsfest!
Another thing on my mind are how can I help my team play better and have more fun on the day?
I heard that raroa school students are apparently really good at basketball so I figured that our team practicing lots would improve our confidence and skills a lot.
I recently have sort of gained the ability to shoot 3 pointers and I have gotten a bit better at doing lay-ups. I hope all the teams do really well in the Sportsfest.
Good luck teams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In with the new or stick to the old? Tough decision.
This week we have been asked to blog about what we think about changing the New Zealand flag.
I have chosen these four flags as my favorites because to me they speak "New Zealand". They also showcase New Zealand's culture and sports.
Reasons for changing the flag
I had just noticed that the New Zealand flag looks fairly similar to the Australian flag. That's the only thing that I'd like to change about the flag.
Reasons to stop the flag from being changed
My reason for not changing the flag is that changing the flag would probably take a while to get used to. Imagine one day we have our regular flag and the next you're looking at a whole new one. Some people say "Why can't Australia change their flag?" but I disagree. I don't think it works like that.
My opinion
I'm not really sure if I want the flag to be changed or not. It's a bit confusing. Changing the flag is not something I'd expect. I'm also not sure how they got the idea of changing the flag in the first place. It's not something I would think of doing myself. Well that's my opinion.
See you later folks!

Arty Art!
I'm back and it's another blog post! YAY!
Today as you probably guessed I'm going to talk to you about art. (My art not your art.)
I enjoy doing all sorts of art. I particularly like sketching because you can create whatever you want!
I also enjoy drawing things from 'how to draw books because some of the pictures they show you to do sometimes look cool.
Something I would like to get better at is my sketching because sometimes the things I make don't really
look like how I'd like them too. It's just a bit weird when something you think is going to look cool and amazing suddenly doesn't look like the thing you imagined at all!
My Ideas for the art exhibition are classified for authorized personnel only so you'll have to wait to find out.
So that's it for this week!

Meal Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This week one of our tasks was to make a blog post about who would you invite to a meal if you could.
My first person would be M.r Bean!
I would invite M.r Bean because he and his movies are really funny.
My questions would be:
If you had a catch phrase what would it be?
What was your very first movie and what was your favorite?
Will there be any other M.r bean movies?
My other person would be Stan Lee!
I would invite him because I am a big fan of the Marvel franchise.
My questions would be:
If I was an extra or a main character in one of your Marvel or unreleased Marvel movies, where would I fit in?
What other new Marvel movies will you be releasing except Captain America: Civil War?
What was your favorite extra to be acting as?
How did you get the idea of being an extra in all of your movies?
I'm sure It would be a wonderful meal!
Bye!

Grandparent Memories
Every 4 years or so, my family and I go to the Philippines to spend time with family. When we visit we usually stay at our grandparents' houses and alternate between the both of them.
With our most recent visit we went to fun places such as going to the carnival which is open at night and lots of different malls which are far larger than our. With our other grandparents we went to to the 'Enchanted Kingdom' theme park. One of the scariest rides was 'Jungle Log Jam' Where you floated in a log while being carried by water over a series of high drops. During our stay we also ate some Filipino food like pandesal.
I enjoy the fun memories we make in the Philippines but eventually we do have to go back to New Zealand where all our stuff is. I don't know what I'd do without my grandparents.

Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, it's back to school after a relaxing 2 weeks of the holidays and we have to get our heads back in the game. The holidays have been pretty fun considering that I went to the Kool for Kids program and went to Armageddon.
Armageddon
Armageddon is is held annually in the round part of the West-pack Stadium. It mainly attracts fans of anime and comics. You can find cards, foam swords, stuffed toys and much more merchandise along with anime and comic super stars there too! I ended up getting a boom co. gun that was worth $50 for only $10. I also tasted a sample then got a free pack of Indo Mi noodles!
Kool for Kids
The 1st out of 2 of the days I stayed at the Kool for Kids program was my personal favorite. We wen to the go-carting place near town. One of my favorite activities I did there was the go-carting. I went really fast! . I ended up being the fastest in my group; having 13 laps as most people had 11 or less.
Holidays are fun but they don't last forever sadly. :(

Nairnville
This term we have been doing sports at Nairnville gym. The sports we played were ripper rugby and soccer and I have enjoyed playing the sports. My favourite sport so far would have to be soccer although I don'like to stay back as a defender. We have learnt that moving into space and making short passes is very effective in games that involve passing. I believe that I have been trying hard to improve and be involved on the Nainville sports. I think practicing more would help me improve my skills. I have really enjoyed the sports so far but I think that we should have some sessions on basketball!

German
Tag (that's hi in German)
So far this term all of the year 7 and 8 rooms have been doing German as their language to focus on. So far I have learnt how to count in German up to 31 and higher it has been fun and the videos we watched were funny but I'm not so sure if I will continue doing German in college. German has been fun and all but I don't see where it's going to help me later in the future (except if I go to a place where people mostly speak German.
Random things I have learnt in German class:
How to say hi (Tag)
how to ask people their names (Wei heiBen Sie)
To ask and to say how old people are (Wie ult ist er if talkingto a man/ Wie ult ist sie if talking to a woman)
How to say goodbye (Auf Wiefersehen)
Tchuss (the informal way to say bye in German)

B-ball
In the weekends I go to a basketball club which is really fun!
It's where a bunch of usually Filipinos go to every Saturday to play basketball and to improve their skills. The people my age are usually a lot better at basketball than I am and that means that when I play against them I have to try my best to score the most hoops as possible. I use perseverance in basically every sport I do which helps me with my stamina and strength.
I think that perseverance is the easiest value to do because I think pushing yourself just that little bit can help you a lot.
The value I hind the most challenging is probably empathy because it's not so easy to feel the same way when somebody feels sad or angry. It may be hard but I try to do it anyway.
That's it for today!

I READ BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, it's me again! This blog post will be all about the book 'the bad book'.
'The bad book' is basically a book with lot of little stories inside of it. One of the most memorable story was the one about a bad ant. In the story ere some pretty repetitive words such as "the bad ant went up the leaf and then the bad ant went over the leaf and the bad ant went down the leaf" the bad book. 'The bad ant' story has funny pictures all around book so look closely at the pages to spot him if you read this book. I think I gave this book a 4/5 score as it's rating for my reading log so I hope you like it too! I also like how funny the book was. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of a laugh. If you want to know what else is in this book then read it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joshua's Wisdom Of The Past
Hi everybody, it's me again! This blog post will be about info I have learned in our topic time about the Galapagos.
Learning about the Galapagos has been enjoyable in this past term. I liked watching the movies about the Galapapagos Islands, evolution and adaptation. Just recently this term we needed to write an essay about the Galapagos and the animals that lived there. Right now we have to write another essay but this time about adaptation. I have learned that the Galapagos was actually created on a hotspot of molten lava🌋 and that the Galapagos can move meters within 30 years. Some of the animals in the Galapagos have ancestors that came from as far as Antarctica.
The Galapagos is an amazing archipelago ( or as I like to say it, ar-chip-el-ago) that has awed people for many years (even me) . That's it for this week, bye!😎

Roles and Responsibilities
Earlier this year I sent a letter to ms Higgins to be a sports leader. Lickily for me I got in. Ever since I became a P.E leader I have pushed out the P.E cart for the other students. So far this year I had enjoyed coaching our year 4-5 cricket team and playing with the sports gear. Right now the only thing I find difficult is to come down to the shed in time, other than that I find my role quite enjoyable but it would be great if we could see one of our coached teams play sometime.

Financial Literacy Guy
This week on Wednesday day the financial literacy guy(Vane) came to room 8 to talk to us about how to be smart with money. As most kids know that there are limited options for us to make money. Vane helped us think about ways to earn money. One of them was to do extra chores on top of our normal ones, the second one was to get yourself neighbour-hood jobs and another one was to sell stuff or put money in your bank account so that you can earn interest. Overall I thought that the session was fun and entertaining And although I am not sure what my financial goal is, I found the session very informative.

Mission Fair
Last week on Friday, the year 6's to 8's made stalls for the mission fair. We raised money for a charity that was helping Vanuatu because of the damage that Cyclone Pam did. Mahon and I made a stall called Sugar Rush. Our stall was meant have a 'knocking down the cups game'. Unfortunately, we were placed under the shade cloth instead of inside room 10 but we were forced to move to the end of the corridor due to the wind knocking down our cups. Fortunately for us, we had the great idea of changing our game to cup bowling. A few minutes later, we were making money. Little kids were our main customers, due to the fact that we were only doing a game and selling lollies. By the end of the mission fair our stall probably earned around $60. In the end, the only thing I would change is for us to be more prepared and to be in a different place.

ANZAC Day
This post is going to be about ANZAC day.
ANZAC day was when the ANZAC's ships landed on the bumpy shores of ANZAC bay instead of the smooth beach of Gaba Tepe. There, the soldiers struggled from not just raining bullets but from disease. Thousands of people lost their lives due to bad decisions which led to a disadvantage but others believe that the battle was lost because of the terrain. The Turk's were just too ready for them. WW1 started 1914 and ended in 1918. In the 4 years of the war brought death to several innocent lives.
In class I have enjoyed learning about ANZAC day and WW1.
I especially liked watching the videos and the visitor from the army. He told us that shrapnel was one of the biggest killers in the war and showed us just how big the shells were compared to an average road-cone. We will always remember the soldiers who died in the war.

EOTC Week reflection
HELLO EVERYBODY! Today I will be talking to you about E.O.T.C. week. That was one of my funnest week of school ever!
On Tuesday, one of our activities was rock climbing at El Rancho. I got used to that eventually but the rock climbing at Ferg's Kayaks was really a challenge for me. Their rock walls were almost twice as high! I found it really difficult to find grips for my feet and hands to go into since some of the handles were too far apart or had a weird shape.
I also found that walking on the rocks at El Rancho that led to the river painful because they were so spikey. One of the only parts of the week I found easy was just walking down Mt Kaukau.
My proudest moment would probably be when I finally got to the top of the first rock wall that I tried at Ferg's Kayaks since I'm not a very big fan of heights.
I had a lot of highlights throughout E.O.TC. week but my favourites would have to be watching 'An Awfully Long Adventure' at the theatrs because it was really funny and interesting. The second thing I liked was having all that free time to play on the laptops in room 11.
In general, E.O.T.C. week was not what I expected. It was much more fun than I imagined it would be!
